“Bohemian Chic”

Give a brand with very little visibility, the next BIG thing in sheepskin. At the time there was a heavy wholesale distribution channel and ecomm wasn’t the thing, so it was out job to make it a thing and a big thing.

The Problem: UGG Australia owned the market, but their designs weren’t compelling.

The Solution: Disrupt the status quo and instigate an acquisition by making Koolaburra the hipper, younger sister–design, image, world market expansion, collaboration and distribution.

The mission.

Make Koolaburra the next BIG THING in sheepskin and the footwear space.

From a garage to a miracle. We did the impossible in collaboration with our pal and marketing Genius, Kenneth LOO who held the marketing director title, we created lightening in a bottle–a brand identity, a new brand experience and completely new product line for a 360 transformation.

How did we disrupt 1 billion plus industry as a no-name brand? Magic, strategy, determination. WE helped open up world markets and secured the best stores across the globe, WE unlocked the unprecedented impact of influencer and celebrity partnerships. WE landed amazing press and leveraged it, WE created an online presence for the first time in brand history. Eventually, our efforts ushered in an acquisition in 2015.  It was a team effort that was very rewarding.

Building the concept.

We infused products with innovation and beauty making the wearer stand out and be noticed.

We established that the Koolaburra wearer is Unique, Authentic, Edgy, Young, Irreverent, Chic, Expressive, Polarizing, Individual, Trendsetter, Comfortable, Spirited 

Trendsetters all over the globe love chic and comfortable Koolaburra footwear. Over the past decade, Koolaburra has transcended the boot market to become an internationally- recognized brand. Our luxurious yet edgy point of view has made our fashion-forward footwear a staple of style icons everywhere. Priding ourselves on innovation and authenticity, we are constantly redefining the boundaries of footwear. We delight in the chic embellishments and surprising silhouettes that have become our signature. 

Based in Santa Barbara, Koolaburra brings its passion for global fashion and a bohemian lifestyle together to create collections with a unique perspective. Driven by a desire to innovate and explore, Koolaburra seeks to redefine what is possible.

We established that Koolaburra’s core vision was a love of fashion and music. Every season, our collection is accompanied by a soundtrack of both contemporary and classic songs. Like a beloved stack of records, Koolaburra is a perfect mix to complement any mood, juxtaposing a bit of risk-taking with boho sensibility. Like no other shoe can, we can take a wearer from the sidewalks of the big city to the beaches of Malibu, while making a statement with every step. 

And that’s exactly why Koolaburra had one of the largest collections of celebrity fans in the world. Style icons including Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Hudson, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Jessica Alba, Elle MacPherson, Cameron Diaz, Hayden Panettiere, the Kardashian sisters, Miley Cyrus, and countless more sport their famed footwear. 

The Koolaburra brand created chic and comfortable shoes for successful and energetic people and the young at heart. Blending the best materials and comfort with our own unique point of view, our shoes strive to stay ahead of the pack with every step.
